A FIERCE MANIFESTO
By: Miriam R. Sachs Martin

Let me eat
all the things that are bad for me set
the computer screen with tacky colors that don’t match
let me
live alone because I’m too messy for anyone else to tolerate me
love my cat
more than my lover

let me be too Fierce for some and too pussy footed for others
dress like my mother
criticize just like my mother
do all the things she does that I said I never would do,
and not even mind

let me pick my nose on the freeway
cry at weddings, graduations, public service announcements and for no good goddamn reason.
let me learn to cry when I need to, too.
let me learn to cry when I need to, too.
let me learn to cry when I need to
also,

let me love, let me live, let me love, let me live, let me write bad poetry and still hold my head up high
let me worry less
play more piano
fart in public
sing in public
love myself all the time
and spell wimmin in ways you’ve never seen. yeah, I can spell wombyn in ways you have never seen.
let me travel more
brag about it less

and never ever give up
savoring life.

never give up savoring life.

let me never give up

savoring

life. *
