and she was lovely wearing her
heart on her camisole
offering a bit of fabric
to the naked
and swimming with glowing
translucent sea creatures
her body slick and slippery
gliding with the current
in one swift kick
of her scaled mermaid physique
she grabbed his hand
and webbed his feet
so he could dive with her
into shallow lagoons
with fireflies igniting the dark jungle
and together they explored
the depths of beauty and love
until he could no longer hold his breath
he exhaled to sink and
his body was found months later
by a two legged child
who wasn't looking for anything
but found him all the same
she breathed a gentle breath into
his mouth
and when his tired eyes opened
he expected to see his enchanting
mermaid
but there was no remnant of her beauty to see
only a child who
exhaled
and gave life to
an unexpecting stranger.
