A Dark Reflection
By: Jennifer Charron

A beautiful woman
Looks deeply at her reflection
And stares at it for hours
Trying to find some truth
Hidden behind what she sees
She has become something new
The old pure body
Covered now by a darker one
And a fading reflection
Forever, she told herself
That is how I will live
But is it worth it?
I have become something odd
Something unfamiliar and frightening
And this is the last time
That I will ever see my own reflection
She closed her eyes
And when she opened them again
Her reflection and who she was before
Were no more. *
