Artist Bio:
Roxanne Zuniga is a visual artist residing in the Silicon Valley and is a graduate from San Jose State University. She earned her Bachelors Degree in Fine Art, focusing on drawing, painting, and printmaking. She currently works out of her studio in Sunnyvale, CA. Her pieces often consist of invented characters in dream-like scenes and irrational narratives. Roxanne's influences stem from a love of cartoons and comic book art. Her visual concerns deal with assembling snippets of reality derived from childhood-memories, iconographic imagery adopted from popular culture, and nature. She is fascinated with pattern, hidden meanings, and the use of facial expression to convey emotion and mood in her work.
Although real paint (acrylic and oil) is her favorite medium and she continues to use it, she has become quite accustomed to sketching out her ideas and transferring them to her Macintosh computer for refinement. The digital format has allowed Roxanne more flexibility because she can work portably on a laptop and utilize colors, mediums, and tools that would normally be unreasonable to use unless one was at the studio.
